Most of us in our thinking often wallow in the negative. What if she leaves me? What if he gets hurt? What if I go broke? Most of our thoughts could be described as, "I just know things will go wrong." We awfulize.
But here is an important thing to consider:
None of these things have happened and they may never happen, yet we pay the price in worry as if they will. This is no way to live a happy life.
To the contrary. Our thoughts are very powerful and if we harness them to think of all the good things that can happen, often good things do happen. Why? Because our thoughts affect our behavior and we take positive actions.
So instead of awfulizing, let's smile, greet others with warmth and guide our thinking down a road of happiness. And if some of the things do happen that we used to fear, we will know in our hearts we can handle it, for we can and we will.
