Living A Life Of Love And Awareness

So many people race from event to event, getting there as quickly as possible and already thinking about the next event while still at the current one. And they are so busy, their love lives are like fast food, quick and convenient, with little thought given to the contents of the meal.

At the age of 67, I've learned that life is a precious gift and should be lived fully. Instead of racing from event to event, I allow enough time to witness the wonders around me, living in a state of awareness and gratitude.

I now see the green trees and the blue sky, with all of its fluffy white clouds and the architecture of the buildings, big and small and I smell the flowers in their rainbow of colors and smile at the butterflies as they flit in the air.

Most of all, I notice the people and greet them warmly. Many of them are racing from event to event but when I take a sincere interest in them, most respond by slowing down to share their lives with me, thankful that someone other than immediate family cares about them.

As for my love life, it has never been better, because I am awakening to the needs of others. I am fully there and happily offering love to the ever growing extent of my heart.

And ironically, I often accomplish more now than I did when I was younger, when I used to be a man in a big hurry. For life is meant to be lived rather than to be a steeple chase. Looking ahead, if at the end of my life I have a regret, it would be that I never really lived life, instead accepting an apathetic version of it.

As you can tell, I have no intention of letting that happen, and it is my hope that you don't allow it to happen to you either. Let us treat every day as the precious gift it is.

Dick
