Listening To Those We Love

We are all bombarded by demands for our attention. People speaking to us, emails, text or twitter messages and advertisers trying to grab our attention on everything from television to websites and blogs, and from newspapers and magazines to billboards and radio.

Our minds screen so much of this away before it drives us mad. But sometimes in the process, it screens away the ones we love. We become too busy to really listen to them. But they need us to hear them and to be responsive to their needs.

Nobody wants to feel tuned out, and whether out of love or out of courtesy, we must give them the attention they deserve. Often, the best time to do this is after dinner, setting aside television or other distractions to listen. After all, isn't your most important priority your loved ones?

And one of your greatest acts of love is to be patient and listen intensely. This allows you to become the voice of wisdom that we all need in our lives, as you offer your compassion and help to resolve issues.
