Love Is A Rose In A Coffee Cup

The other day, I clipped a fragrant pink and white rose, keeping a few inches of its green stem and put it in water in a colorful coffee cup on my wife Anne's desk next to her computer. She enjoyed it so much, that with the first signs of its wilting, she replaced it with another bright rose in bloom.

Not only is a flower in a coffee cup an expression of love for another, but it offers a magical moment, hour after hour as that person stops for an instant to look at it. It's like a mini-meditation highlighted by some of nature's finest expressions.

Try it. If you don't have a rose garden at home or they aren't in bloom, stop by your local florist and buy a flower that captures your imagination and put it into a coffee cup with a little water to keep its stem fresh. For the next few days, it will touch the heart of a loved one, or if you do it for yourself, it will uplift your spirits.
