On Being A Mother

Being a mother is magical for not only do you give life but you provide your child with the most valuable gift mankind ever can, never ending unconditional love.

In your pregnancy, from the instant you first felt a new life within your body, or if you are an adoptive mother, from the moment you looked deeply into your child's eyes, you felt an unconditional love that would last for the rest of your life.

It is you who instills self-esteem in your child, you who teaches manners, you who teaches cleanliness and you who teaches compassion. It is you who showers hugs and kisses and kind words of support on your child.

It is you who endlessly encourages your child to eat nourishing foods, go to bed at a decent time and to bundle up in chill temperatures.

It is you who is there when your child is sick, you who takes your child to the doctor and you who buys and administers the medicine. It is you who willingly sits up all night when your child cries out in pain, and you who offers the soothing words only a mother can.

It is you who oversees your child's education and you who takes your child to recitals and tutoring sessions, sports events and many other important activities.

If times are hard, it is you who joins your spouse in the workplace to bring home a paycheck while still taking care of your child.

If no spouse contributes a paycheck, it is you who works full-time to keep a roof over your child's head, and to provide food and clothing and for other vital needs. So your child can have, it is you who will do without.

It is you who prepares your child to be independent, able to go out in the world and build a happy life, for you won't always be there and you want your child to prosper and to be loved.

As a mother, the hours are endless, the pay is non-existent and the responsibilities never cease, no matter how old your child becomes for you never stop caring.

Nations around the world recognize you once a year with a Mother's Day, but in fact you deserve gratitude and respect every day for being the wonderful, devoted and irreplaceable loving mother you are.
