"I love grandpa time," said Anne's and my 7 year old grandson Cameron yesterday, as he and I and his 4 year old sister Carina together were kicking small light weight soccer balls and they were playing on the swing set and the slides.
And what a joy they are for Anne and me. Anne had ordered a hot cheese pizza for them and we keep a stash of chocolate milk and lemonade for them as well, so they can have all these things their little hearts desire. Because their parents have them eat a proper diet, on occasion we can spoil them rotten.
As they joyfully ate their dinners, we played a movie they chose, "Muppet Treasure Island," and then "Ice Age," which was playing when their parents arrived. At that moment, Carina was sitting on top of me on the coach watching the movie and Cameron was on the floor playing with his little plastic men in an imaginary world of his own creation.
Just the day before, Anne and I joined our son Clayton in watching Carina and about 40 other 4 and 5 year olds, joined by their families, as the children joyously and loudly rehearsed the songs and dances they would perform for their mothers in a Mother's Day recital.
If you have children or grandchildren dear reader, you know what a joy these times are, as they capture your heart and live in your memory.
