A Love That Lasts

In fairy tales, two people fall in love and they live happily ever after. In real life, love grows in stages and there are times when that love absorbs significant setbacks, for none of us is perfect.

A couple can grow closer together but their relationship will require sacrifice and it must overcome occasional times of insensitivity, indifference and sometimes painful actions caused by one or the other.

For seldom do we attain anything of real value without commitment, compassion and determination. To be in love really means we fall in love with our partner again and again, growing closer together and more understanding and forgiving of our partner's faults and limitations, for in that person's vulnerability, we recognize our own.

In our lasting love we gain life's real meaning, one of great joy and intimacy as we unselfishly devote ourselves to the well-being and support of another, one who is our lover, our partner, our friend and shower that person with all the love our hearts long to share.
