Many couples live together without commitment, so that each one can feel free to go without legal entanglements. Sometimes they loosely throw around the word "fiancé," which I refer to as paper rings. That they are loving to each other is what matters.
But if a baby arrives, that child is entitled not only to the commitment of his or her parents, but the security of knowing the parents are committed to each other, no paper rings involved.
