Love Shown In Greasy Little Hands

When Anne's and my grandchildren Cameron, now 10 and Carina, now 7 were little, we would take them out to eat.

They would handle their food, while spilling some of it on themselves, and then scramble onto my lap, touching me with their greasy little fingers.

Initially I was taken aback, wanting to keep my clothes and myself clean, until I realized they were expressing their love, which I deeply desired to have.

Knowing that my clothes would wash as would I, with joy Cameron and Carina were allowed to scramble all they wanted, and I was the very fortunate recipient, which I was thankful for then and thankful for now.
