To Cry Can Express Compassion And Love

Women are far more in touch with their feelings than we as men are. Tears can come readily to them as they let the moisture help cleanse their pain, and express compassion and love beyond what they may say in words.

As men, we foolishly view tears as a sign of weakness, as we bury our emotions behind a facade that is supposedly strength. But at the age of 67, I have come to realize what a mistake it is to hold our feelings in.

Not only is it unhealthy for our minds and bodies as we stuff down what we need to feel, but it deprives us of the deeper growth our feelings can express to us. So in recent years, I have let the tears well up in my eyes if it is what my heart feels and I find my levels of compassion and love have grown considerably.

For a man to cry is not a point of shame but proudly a matter of courage.

Dear Reader,

I laughed out loud from this post which is from my son Kyle. He is quoting a conversation from Don Corleone, a character from the movie classic "The Godfather." played by Marlin Brando and a character patterned on a fictitious Frank Sinatra.
