People often speak of what others must do to make this a better world. But their words aside, what actions do they themselves take to make this world better?
Do they nurture their families and make them feel safe and loved? Do they smile and offer kind words of encouragement to brighten the world for others? If they oppose war, do their actions express that opposition? If they support feeding the homeless, do their actions honor that message?
Actions do speak far louder than words and the loving actions of even just a few of us could uplift the lives of others in desperate need.
I know a man who is very much into making money and living a life of self-gratification, as most people do. But every holiday season, he sharply reduces his regular activities and does major fund raising for a homeless shelter, contributing a large personal check as well. He speaks of his concern for homeless families and his actions show he really cares.
This is a true demonstration of love. When our lofty words are exceeded by our extraordinary actions and the world becomes a better place because of us.
