Regarding our loved ones, it is easy to descend into ego, as we think "our" means they belong to us, rather than to denote a relationship.
We try to control their activities and in some cases, try to assert control over their lives, as we expect them to do what we want them to.
But reality is they are individuals with their own lives and their own choices to make.
In loving them, our role is to be kind and compassionate, respectful and if need be, forgiving, but at no time controlling. And if we honor that role, we will become the very fortunate recipient of their love and admiration.
