Giving A Gift That Really Matters

Yesterday, a lovely neighbor came by to ask a favor of Anne. Then while this neighbor noted on her smart phone information about us to use in the future so she would not need to come by, she asked Anne a question about our children to occupy Anne's attention.

With pride, Anne joyfully and heartily replied, but I could see this lovely neighbor was absorbing little of it as she kept on inputting information into her smart phone. As a veteran businesswoman, over the years this woman has learned to use such tactics to occupy people while she focuses on what is most important to her.

Yet one of the most vital needs people have is to be heard and acknowledged. It gives them a sense of importance, making them feel like who they are and what they say really matters.

With a loving heart, you can bestow this vital gift upon them by giving them your undivided attention  as you deeply listen to them express themselves. By giving this gift, you will uplift person after person and in the process uplift the world around you.
