Love Is About Being Real

Often, when people fall in love, it is with someone straining to present their ideal self as both lovers play this deceptive game. But as time passes, the real people manifest themselves and sometimes the relationship falls apart.

Who you are continues to evolve but ultimately you can only be yourself, and hopefully that self is someone that makes you proud.

This not only applies to relationships of love but in other relationships as well. I recall many years ago a very capable woman who worked for me.

To get ahead, she was determined to put her best foot forward, but as time passed, who she really was and the complications from her personal life spilled into her professional life. The situation eventually became bad enough to have to say goodbye to her.

As you and I go through life, it is far better to present ourselves for whom we actually are and if we don't like ourselves, make changes to become whom we wish to be. We will be happier and more comfortable in our relationships and happier with ourselves knowing people like and respect the real us.
