How To Overcome The Stereotypes Of Old Age

People don't care about how old you are. They care about how you make them feel.

Don't fall into some of the traps some older people do by complaining about your aches, pains and problems. Particularly on social occasions, people aren't there to give you sympathy, they are there to have a good time. And believe it or not, they too have aches, pains and problems. Everyone does.

And times, morals and music weren't better in your youth. They just seem that way because you are recalling points in your life when you had an open mind and a receptive nature.

Instead of complaining or sitting by yourself in a corner, recognize that it is not up to others to cater to you. Instead, be energetic, take an interest in others and be a good listener with something positive to say. And as you did in your youth, tune in to what is current and be respectful of it.

The passage of time doesn't make you old, a withering of the spirit, bitterness, a disinterest in life and in others does that.

Smile, open your heart and let others know you really care about them and they will welcome your company and admire your wisdom, a wisdom the passage of time, observation and experience has brought to you.
