Some people are of the mistaken impression they are alone in this world. But we are all united, sharing such common elements as having families, seeking medical care, eating food or in being spiritual beings in search of growth in the brief time we are in this life. As you may also have discovered, we are all pre-wired to seek love and understanding and we need the closeness and involvement of others.
Without parents, biologically there is no you. Without the sun, the rain, the soil and the bees that pollinate our plants, and people to harvest them, there is no food and therefore there is no you. Without clothing, which is made by others, you are naked to the world. Without books, you are ignorant. Without music and plays and other forms of art, you would face an unbearable creative emptiness. Mankind, even its earliest forms left us with cave art.
Without income, you have no way to pay your bills. If you are threatened, without a police officer you are in danger. If your home catches fire, a home likely built and financed by others and constructed with a vast array of materials you didn't create or harvest, then you need a team of firefighters. If you are imprisoned, one of the worst forms of torture is solitary confinement, because you need to be with others.
This is but a sampling of our interconnectivity. Since mankind's earliest days, our survival, our joys and our very basis for being have depended upon our relationships with others, a form of extended family. Since the beginning, men and women have fallen in love and procreated, without which there is no you. Without the extensive involvement of others now and over the ages, there is no you, for you are the product of millions of years of evolution, and as you matter, so do the rest of us, as we help and care for one another.
